Originally published by Straight Arrow Books, San Francisco, in 1974, the book was subsequently facsimilised in Arabic by the Modern Library, Beirut, in 1975. For this entirely visual re-publication, Dimitri Bruni and Manuel Krebs (also known as the Swiss graphic-design duo Norm) appropriated the Lebanese edition, whose pages carelessly reproduced newspaper and magazine clippings, unevenly printed in varying shades of grey and scattered across the pages without a fixed layout. When the duo encountered this impoverished edition, the impulse to give it a second life became evident:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003e“The brutalist attitude behind this book design inspired us to re-publish it. Our aim was to achieve the best possible reproduction of these already degraded images. In order to minimise any loss in quality, we printed the images on high-gloss paper using frequency-modulated screens. To lend the images the greatest possible presence, we also completely eliminated any typographical elements from the pages.
